This is now the eighth time that the Bible mentions the Feast of Tabernacles,
“You shall observe the Feast of Tabernacles seven days, when you have gathered from your threshing floor and from your winepress” (Deuteronomy 16.13).
The Lord went on to say in verse 14 that they were to enjoy this feast, but that is what they did, and it does not appear that it was a special shopping day for them, or a time of sports, or whatever.
They remembered the time when they had to stay in tents during the forty years of wandering in the wilderness, and remembering it for seven days every years insured that this event in their history would be fixed in their minds.
