First Kings 5.15 – 70,000 burden-bearers: Incidental Reference

Sevens in the Bible 7 copy

We examine the workers for King Solomon, whose workers included this number,

Solomon had seventy thousand who carried burdens, and eighty thousand who quarried stone in the mountains… (1 Kings 5.15).

If the 70,000 burden-bearers were significant, then so was the 80,000 who quarried stone. Someone might argue that the latter is a multiple of 40, another significant number in the Bible, but it seems to push the numbers more than the Bible does to give them some kind of spiritual significance.

Therefore, this passage appears to be an incidental reference to seven.
