The Lord instructed Joshua to have seven priests with seven trumpets of rams’ horns go before the Ark of the Testimony, as Israel marched around the city of Jericho.

Then the Bible shows Joshua obeying the Lord,

Then Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the LORD” (Joshua 6.6).

Everything about this meant something to the Lord, and it is for us to discover the meaning. We have seen many references to seven in the Bible, and we shall see many more, Lord willing, but picture what the Lord wanted Israel to do in this instance.

Seven priests with these seven trumpets marched around a city, with the Ark of God following, and behind it the nation of Israel. What did the people of Jericho think?
