The first recorded words of God in Scripture pertain to light,
“Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light” (Genesis 1.3).
Therefore, we can conclude that God regards light highly, for as John said,
“This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all” (1 John 1.5).
It does not surprise us then, that He told Moses to speak to his brother the following,
“Speak to Aaron, and say to him, ‘When you arrange the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light in front of the lampstand'” (Numbers 8.2).
God wanted light in that tabernacle, and He wanted it arranged in a precise pattern.
Does that surprise you? It does not me, because He is the God of order and precision. Just look at creation, and you will see what I mean.
