What an exciting time it must have been for Israel when Solomon completed the temple and then dedicated it to the Lord. The Bible says,

At that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great assembly from the entrance of Hamath to the Brook of Egypt, before the LORD our God, seven days and seven more days—fourteen days (1 Kings 8.65). 

It was as though the seven days of celebration turned out so well that they decided to add another seven days of celebrating, for this showed the perfect work on Earth had been done. A temple to the Great God of Heaven then sat upon the Earth.
