As one son of Gideon accused another son of Gideon, the accuser said,
“…but you have risen up against my father’s house this day, and killed his seventy sons on one stone, and made Abimelech, the son of his female servant, king over the men of Shechem, because he is your brother—” (Judges 9.18).
First, this text surprises us that Gideon had seventy sons! Did he have any daughters, and if so, how many did he have?
Second, on this blog we also notice a use of the number seven, or a multiple of seven, but we do not see any significance in the use of the number seven here.
