Leviticus 23.27 – Day of Atonement in the seventh month

On the first day of the seventh month, the children of Israel celebrated the Feast of Trumpets, then nine days later, they celebrated another event,

“Also the tenth day of this seventh month shall be the Day of Atonement. It shall be a holy convocation for you; you shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire to the LORD” (Leviticus 23.27).

This was a magnificent day for Israel, and it prefigured the work of Jesus Christ, who is our atonement, and not for ours only for also for the whole world (1 Jo 2.1, 2).
