Exodus 22.30 – Seven days with its mother

The Lord commanded Israel,

“You shall not delay to offer the first of your ripe produce and your juices. The firstborn of your sons you shall give to Me” (Exodus 22.29).

He then told them how it was to be with their oxen and sheep,

“Likewise you shall do with your oxen and your sheep. It shall be with its mother seven days; on the eighth day you shall give it to Me” (Exodus 22.30).

We may not always know why the Lord designated something as seven, but since it appears so often, as we have seen—and we are only in the second Book of the Bible, we know that there was something significant for the Lord or to the Lord.

  1. “Likewise you shall do with your oxen and your sheep. It shall be with its mother seven days; on the eighth day you shall give it to Me” (Exodus 22.30).

    Don,
This verse supports our long-term belief that seven is the Bible number for completion and eight is the number for a new beginning.
